I was fooled by all the positive reviews. The book description sounded cool and intriguing but it's unreadable! I should've downloaded the sample before buying it. Then I know I wouldn't have spent money on it. The dialogue is just ridiculous and the more I read, the more I couldn't stand it. I couldn't even finish it! I don't understand how this book got so many positive reviews. It is in severe need of editing and rewrites.Product details

Man am I glad I found this author and series on Bookbub. The description sounded interesting and you couldn't beat the price..Free! Anyway it's my genre spy/spec ops and a series. The book is very well written with great believable characters and nice back and subplots. Reads very much like a David Hagberg, Andy McNabb action novel. I loved this one so much I just bought the other 2 in the series. I love finding these little surprises, authors who aren't well known that turn out a nice finished enjoyable product. A very solid 4.5 Stars across the board! I will now add this author to my list of keepers. Give it a shot guys, you will thank me.
Robert Cook writes so well, I wrote his initial review calling him Robin Cook, that will give you an idea of how well he writes. I honestly believe that ROBERT is a master at story telling.
This story follows a young man from a shaky youth that could have ended up with him going down the wrong path, to an amazing man mentally and physically and his life in and out of the military. It's a story that will appeal to all genders and ages.
I enjoyed it so much I will be reading it again to pick up all the little things I missed the first time around.
I liked the beginning of the book, but then it jumps back in time to explain how Cooch became Cooch. I kept reading thinking that it would get better, but I. Not sure it did. Some of the stories are interesting but others done seem to add much to the story as a whole. Alex is a confusing character he seems to be multiple people wrapped up in one body. I guess that's what made him good at his job. It just seems strange that a guy Iike that could want/have an "normal" romantic relationship. The rape scene is totally unnecessary and tacky. There are other ways to show how bad a bad guy can be.
I definitely want to read more of the Cooch series. So far, I have read only the three that I have found. The author's concepts of educational learning by individualized computer training is indeed unique and exciting to me. The computer's ability to intuitively analyze the learning skills of the students, and their pace of achievement, makes it a substantially viable alternative to the decadent, extremely expensive, and totally unsuccessful public education system. This individualized approach would save trillions of dollars spent for education, and eliminate the waste of our educational system.
The writing of this book was really very good, and I must say that I enjoyed the read, However, this book lost a star because of some very newbie mistakes. Repetition of concepts, details, and strategies abound, and there's a huge backstory dump right in the middle that either should have been the beginning of the book or left out. It was a good stretch of story, but it was way out of place. Another issue was the enormous chapter titles. There were many places where there wasn't room across the page for an entire word, and a couple instances where the title pour across to a second page. To me that shows carelessness for the presentation of the work, and in truth it was really annoying.
This book is a perfect example of all the lustful, fantasy, macho dreams that some men have. Actually it was funny in a sick sort of way. The protagonist, Cooch, with an unpronounceable last name, possessed it all. He was wealthy thanks to a fortune he stole and invested wisely. He was a "political assassin", seemingly making him steps above your average run-of-the mill assassin. He dressed the best, drove the best, drank the best, knew something about everything, had a body that would put Mr. America to shame, and, of course, the writer was careful to let us know he was no wimp in the "weenie" department either. It was when I came to the description of the verbal torture of a man and his date that I realized that this book was really, really stupid. The tone was lopsided....everything was to the extreme. Even the villains were the worst of the worst.
I do have to commend the writer for trying to pull off the super-hero genre. Clive Cussler comes to mind as one that has excelled in this field. I may check back after the writer has a few more books under his belt. Then again, maybe not. It was just too silly.
This is a book I got in the edition for free recently. I read it today. As light reading goes, it was OK.
Cooch, a kid from the wrong side of the tracks, gets into trouble defending his sister from an attempted rape and gets thrown in jail for his trouble.
Fortunately, his dad is a medal of honor winner and knows a senator who is in charge of a secret government agency that has a bunch of bad asses that work for it and the senator sends one of them to deal with the problem.
The kid is only 16 but just to get him out of town, he is accepted into the marines, and after basic training goes to work for the CIA. Then he becomes their best killer and black ops specialist.
It is a little annoying that the kid is smarter and stronger than everyone else. His manhood is even larger than average.
Eventually he takes down a Columbian drug lord who has a side business stealing national security secrets.
Not much here that is really plausible and for me that is what separates an average story from a really good one. This one is just average in that respect. Besides the martial arts and other military skills he learns, Cooch finds time to go to school. And, just as a bonus, his grandfather is a Bedouin shiek who seems to want his grandson to take over for him.
Still, as light entertainment, it was OK.
